Image via Wikipedia If one learned to remember – then when should we do it? There is one thing about parenting I just realized. My youngest daughter said to me “Mum how I am supposed to remember things that I forget”. I had to think about that because I put myself into the mind of asking that exact question and I came up with – often I don’t remember something; it’s not that I forget, but then who reminds us to remember? How do we remember as adults? We have things in place to remind us, but how often do we rely on part of our brain to recall things that are important and recall those things timely? We have to remember everyday to look at the calendar or the diary; but for children? I pondered that thought and thought – wow; I have not forgotten things – I just haven’t remembered them. There are the easy things like – wake up, get up, get dressed, make your bed, put your pj’s away, choose breakfast – eat breakfast, pick up your lunch, clean your teeth, wash your face, pack the bag – what goes in the bag; homework, library books, Continue Reading

Are you aware; how many parents and other individuals, almost exclusively rely on the supposed expertise of authorities? In my homeschooling community there are several stories of how more responsible parents had to take their kids out of school because they were being forced by school officials to take ADHD medication (what better way to suppress creativity). What would Mick Dodson say? Anyway enjoy this clip – I did!

How best demonstrate a working model transitioning from adolescent to adult modeling the correlation of social and environmental factors influenced by peer pressure in society? How the what! do you do that? How do students identify habit forming behaviors before the habits are formed without personally being able to identify them? Resulting in the restriction the Mental wellbeing of their future? What measures are in place at this level of development to guide, teach, support and roll out demonstrations demonstrating Mental wealth as a critical health issue today for tomorrow? Brace yourself! – think of a bracelet … All the subjects are there and the links between should create the relativity to “individuality” in life but who teaches what is relative to what? Life is the theme of this bracelet; the links are the knowledge and the attachments should be life’s skills and tools for self-discovery, self-understanding and self-preservation. But who has time to convey that? this way? too busy. I have had to teach my daughter; after understanding she had to be at peace with all the locations of her classes; how to negotiate and balance times for homework, fun and chores. Her day has another aspect other than Continue Reading

I read this in the Courier Mail today – I don’t see Red – I just read it … and … Queensland Teachers Union president Steve Ryan hung up on The Courier-Mail after claiming the kit did not exist and the Government would never give that advice to teachers. That is a bit incongruent isn’t it? Did Steve Ryan hang up denying the kit existed and the government are lying? Is that it? What??? – I don’t even understand that previous sentence then to add the next!!! … Red! lol … seeing red is a reality “confused” with who is in denial and who isn’t!. “Mental health is a serious issue,” Mr Ryan said. ((Everything is mental – that is why everything “else” is manifested!)) Mental illness group Mind Frame said about 14 per cent of children between four and 17 suffered from mental problems. (I wonder? do those children that “require” assisted learning …. are they in this bracket? or are behaviour problems adequately served as a disorder? – how is mental health defined for government funding for kids at school?”) … and then; what about the other percent that are just brushed off as “oh! a naughty kid?” Continue Reading

Once upon a time the colors of the world started to quarrel. All claimed that they were the best. The most important. The most useful. The favourite. Green said: “Clearly I am the most important. I am the sign of life and of hope. I was chosen for grass, trees and leaves. Without me, all animals would die. Look over the countryside and you will see that I am in the majority”. Blue interrupted:

When do we teach choices? here is another evolving experience within our Family. My daughter who is in Grade 2 (7yrs) is participating in Sports Day this week at school. It is on Tuesday for her age group. Prior to last week, she came home one day complaining that her legs hurt. “Well love that’s what happens when you exercise them”. Why do they hurt so much Mum? “Is it because I was trying to go as fast as I could many times?” – “Probably” I answered. Last week she came home saying how much “fast exercise hurt” and why couldn’t it be otherwise. I am writing this because last night she said to me “Mummy, do you know something” … well, she went on. I shall punctuate the following paragraph as it belongs to her speech. “Mum, I will tell you this because maybe you don’t know … okay I said … Well Mum you know what you do is that you practice coughing and you run at the same time. You keep practising until the coughing just happens when you run and then you go to the Doctor and he calls it Asthma. Did you know Mum there Continue Reading
